Rules to make presentations more effective
- Enlarge photos to make them as BIG as possible on each slide. Use the available screen space.
- Use a black or dark background to make photos easier to see.
- Fancy backgrounds can distract from the presentation.
- Animated graphics can spice up a presentation, but use them sparingly.
- Limit the number of transitions used. Don't use more than 3 different types in the entire presentation.
- Keep it simple.
How to Compress your PowerPoint File (makes it a smaller file size; faster loading; faster copying to USB drive)
- On PowerPoint menu bar, select "File"..."Save AS"...
- In the next pop-up window, click on "Tools" (upper right toolbar)
- On the drop-down menu, Select "Compress Pictures"
- Click on "Web/Screen" under Change Resolution
- Click "OK"
- If you get a confirmation window, click "Apply"
- Then in the Save As window that is still open, click "Save". You will get a pop-up warning window about overwriting the original file. Click "Yes"
